Whatever you choose, we are here to support you on your journey.

Coaching and Spiritual Direction

At Doxology Counseling, Brett offers coaching and spiritual direction services besides therapeutic counseling.

Counseling versus Coaching

Counseling and coaching both offer individuals and couples help in navigating the challenges of infidelity and building stronger, healthier relationships. Still, counseling can include therapeutic activities that coaching can’t. Only a therapist licensed in the client’s state of residence can diagnose and treat mental health disorders, conduct psychological assessments or give specialized trauma therapy. Licensed in Texas, Brett can offer therapeutic counseling services to clients residing within the state. For those living outside of Texas, Brett can offer valuable support through coaching. If Brett and the client agree that specialized therapeutic services are required during coaching, Brett will help the client find someone licensed to offer these services in the client’s state or country.

Counseling versus Spiritual Direction

Both counseling and spiritual direction aim to give support and guidance, but they differ in their focus and methods. Counseling is a therapeutic practice that addresses emotional, psychological, and relational issues. Spiritual direction is a contemplative practice. It centers on deepening one’s spiritual journey. It emphasizes a relationship with the divine. It is more about recognizing the presence and guidance of a higher power rather than resolving specific problems. Whether you are seeking spiritual growth, or you wrestle with doubts about your faith, spiritual direction offers a safe and sacred space. It lets you explore your spiritual experiences, seek meaning, and ask hard questions.
