Guided Nature Walks Experience the tranquility and healing power of nature through Japanese Shinrin-yoku, sometimes called forest bathing. Immersed in the natural beauty of Egret Isle Farm, this practice is designed to reduce stress, enhance mental clarity, and promote a sense of peace and well-being.

Equine Therapy Experience the therapeutic power of interacting with horses. Equine therapy fosters emotional healing and resilience, providing a unique and calming experience.

Creative Workshops Embrace your creativity with our hands-on workshops, like painting, woodworking, and blacksmithing. These activities offer a wonderful escape and a chance to express yourself.

Yoga and Mindfulness Exercises Find your balance and enhance your well-being with yoga for all levels. Yoga helps to relax the mind and restore the body, building resilience for the year ahead.

Meet Your Hosts

Brett Hart – Brett is a Licensed Professional Therapist. He brings over 30 years of experience in pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, and professional therapy to our retreat. Brett is deeply committed to helping people heal and grow, particularly in their relationships. He is trained in the Gottman Couples Therapy Method. He also has training in Natural Lifesmanship equine-assisted psychotherapy and is certified in spiritual direction by the Perkins School of Theology. Brett offers a unique blend of professional expertise and personal insight. His inclusive approach respects all beliefs. His compassionate approach will give you the guidance and support you need to experience relaxation, restoration, and resilience in 2025.

Shelby White – Shelby White is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has a wealth of experience in the mental health care industry. She holds a Master of Social Work in Interpersonal Practice from The University of Southern Mississippi. She also has training in Natural Lifesmanship equine-assisted psychotherapy and other trauma resolution therapy models. Shelby is skilled in yoga instruction and integrates holistic practices into her therapeutic work. Shelby’s compassionate and multifaceted approach makes her an invaluable asset to our retreat. She will guide participants through yoga sessions and lead therapeutic activities designed to foster relaxation, restoration, and resilience.

Kay Hart – Kay is a seasoned management consultant with a wealth of experience in business strategy and organizational development. Over the years, Kay has worked with many high-profile clients. Kay has helped them navigate complex business challenges and achieve their strategic goals. Kay brings a unique perspective to the retreat, sharing practical strategies for maintaining personal well-being amidst the demands of a busy professional life. As a non-therapist facilitator, Kay offers relatable insights and actionable advice. She empowers participants to cultivate resilience and thrive both personally and professionally.

What is included in the registration fee?

The registration fee includes all retreat activities, workshops, materials, lunch, dinner, and access to the facilities.

What is the fee for individual counseling sessions during the retreat?

Individual counseling sessions will be billed separately at that counselor’s normal rate. For more information call 512-346-9299 or info@doxology.org.

.What should I bring to the retreat?

Please bring comfortable clothing, a water bottle, a journal or notebook, and any personal items you may need throughout the day. All materials for activities will be provided.

What time does the retreat start and end?

The retreat will start at 9 AM and end at 7 PM.

Are there any age restrictions for the retreat?

This retreat is designed for adults aged 18 and over.

Can couples attend the retreat together?

Yes, couples are welcome and encouraged to attend together. Our activities and sessions are beneficial for both individuals and couples.

What kind of activities can I expect?

The retreat includes guided nature walks, equine therapy sessions, creative workshops, wellness workshops, mindfulness exercises, and a group yoga session.

Will there be any free time during the retreat?

Yes,there will be individual reflection time scheduled to allow participants to relax and enjoy the serene environment.

Is there parking available at the retreat location?

Yes, there is ample parking available at Egret Isle Farm for all participants.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Please let us know your dietary restrictions during registration, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel your registration, please contact us as soon as possible. Full refunds are available for cancellations received by December 15. A 50% refund is available for cancellations received December 15 through December 28. Cancellations received after December 28 are non-refundable.

What will we do if the weather is bad?

Participants should dress for the weather as our activities are designed to embrace the outdoors. We will only make changes if weather conditions are particularly harsh. In the event of harsh weather, we will adapt our schedule or move activities indoors as needed. Rest assured, it will be a great experience either way.

What activities are planned for Creative Expression time?

We will have a variety of art supplies for painting and paper crafting. There will also be a small number of spots available for book binding, turning wood on a lathe, and blacksmithing.

Do I have to join in the planned Creative Expression activities?

Definitely not! Feel free to bring supplies to do other creative activities you enjoy, including journaling or playing an instrument. We encourage you to explore your creativity during this time, but the WHOLE retreat is YOUR time to use in the way you need.

Will I be riding horses, and do I need to know how to ride horses?

No. The type of equine therapy we will be doing does not involve riding. You will have an opportunity to interact with the horses on the ground and you can always just watch if you choose.

What if I don’t want to join in a particular activity?

While we would encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities the retreat offers, this is YOUR retreat and you decide what will help you renew and restore. You are free to wander the grounds or find a quiet spot to sit and journal if you choose to skip an activity.
